Scuba Diving
The word “Scuba” is actually an acronym that stands for “Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus.” The term was originated from WWII where the Navy used oxygen rebreathers to do underwater attacks . Today, the scuba system has become much more advanced and has turned the unknown of the deep seas into an adventure for divemasters everywhere.
The Scuba system is a close-circuit (or sometimes a semi-closed circuit) that is referred to as a rebreather. The diver is able to breathe easily with the system in from the tank attached on their back, and then exhale out of the system expelling the gas from their body and the breathing system. To dive deeper, a diver must use a mix of oxygen gas and nitrogen gas called Nitrox. Seven Seas offers a Naui Nitrox course to divers that teaches you how nitrox works and how to take advantage of its benefits.
Seven Seas of Baton Rouge, Louisiana services much of the surrounding areas for diving equipment, and trips that these divemasters enjoy taking. Every year, the shop takes divers from all over South Louisiana including New Orleans, Lafayette, Kenner, Metairie, Hammond, and many more to the Florida Keys for an adventure in diving in the ocean.
